What are some exercises that you can do with the Mini FitBall?
The FitBALL Mini is a 9 inch inflatable ball that is most commonly used in resistance training and Pilates programs. With my clients, I generally use the FitBALL Mini as a tool to perform strength training exercises. My clients are usually familiar with exercise bands, tubes, and hand weights, so I recommend the FitBALL Mini as a fun and simple way to add variety to their program. Here are just a few of the many exercises that can be performed using the FitBALL Mini:
Standing Triceps:
1. Begin by holding the FitBALL Mini between both hands and standing an arm’s length away from a wall.
2. Place the FitBALL Mini against the wall with both hands on the ball.
3. Perform a push up by bending at the elbow and leaning into the ball with your body weight. Push back up to a starting position and repeat 10-12 times.
Seated Adductor (inner thigh):
1. Sit in a chair and place the FitBALL Mini between both thighs.
2. Squeeze your legs against the ball, tightening your adductor muscles.
3. Relax and release; repeat 10-12 times.
Floor Abdominals:
1. Start by lying on the floor with your knees bent and feet off the floor.
2. Place the FitBALL Mini between your lower legs and squeeze to hold in place.
3. Straighten both legs until they are almost touching the floor. Remember to exhale as you straighten your legs and contract your abdominal muscles to support your lower back.
4. Bend your legs and return to the starting position. Repeat 10-12 times.

Adding the FitBALL Mini to your Pilates workout is another great way to integrate this tool into a physical activity program. There are so many Pilates exercises that can be performed using the FitBALL Mini that I recommend you check out the resources at www.balldynamics.com. If you are new to Pilates, I would start with the Pilates Mini Ball DVD, the first Pilates video to come out with a small stability ball. The DVD features over 20 mat exercises using the FitBALL Mini. If you are more advanced, check out the Pilates Mini Ball Advanced Workout DVD.
This sequel to the Pilates Mini Ball DVD expands on the exercises for advanced students and also features over 20 mat exercises. All of the exercises in both DVD’s are modified for all levels of students.
