Assure
New, Improved Full Anti-slip Coverage Both Top & Bottom!
SafetySure® Pivot Disc - Designed
for use by individuals who are able to stand but cannot readily
pivot/move their legs. Individuals with good upper body strength can use
the Pivot Disc only with already available sturdy & stable
handholds, to accomplish independent transfers. Caregiver assistance is required for those individuals with limited or little upper body strength. If the patient cannot use his/her upper extremities a helper will be needed to use this product. This is a great caregiver assistance tool, as it makes transfers easier and reduces their back strain.
Advantages of the SST Pivot Disc;
Because of the lightweight and convenient grip handle, the SST Pivot
Disc is easy to use and carry.
The Pivot Disc is made of high quality polymer plates for ease of
motion.
The Pivot Disc is also equipped with anti-glide tapes on both sides to
prevent slipping on the floor or when the individual is standing on the
Pivot Disc.
An individual with impaired mobility from paralysis or limited lower body function can use the SafetySure® Pivot Disc (SST Pivot Disc) in a very efficient way, so long as good upper body strength remains, for;
- Transfer between a wheelchair and a toilet.
- Transfer between a chair and a wheelchair.
- Transfer between a chair or wheelchair and a bed.
PLEASE NOTE: The movement of the Pivot Disc does not
mimic the turning of a "Lazy-Susan". It is designed for controlled
turning by the end user's upper body strength and a strong, immobile
handhold. Weight applied to disc does not turn it; it is the applied weight being turned that turns it.
Both
the top and bottom of the Pivot Disc is covered with a non-slip
material that keeps the Pivot Disc securely in place. Weight capacity is
400 lbs. Pivot disc instructions included.

Pivot
Disc turning too slowly? Occasionally dirt or static electricity may
cause your disc to not turn properly. Your pivot disc consists of 3
pieces of plastic disc. Simply take a thin, clean cloth and spray it
with furniture polish, then insert the cloth between the disc layers and
drag the cloth all around to clean and lubricate the disc. This will
keep your disc functioning properly.

Directions for use
Be sure to
read the instruction sheet that comes with the item before using the SST Pivot Disc, as updated may be included. Please seek proper medical advice and follow
manufacturer’s instructions.
Placement of the Pivot Disc
The
SST Pivot Disc can be used on all normal household floors; carpeting or
hard surfaces (wood, tile, linoleum, etc.). Place it on the floor with
the label facing downwards. The individual's feet are to be positioned
completely on the disc to facilitate a smooth transfer and reduce back
strain on both the individual and caregiver. The handle of the Pivot
Disc should be place facing the individual to prevent interfering with
the caregiver's feet. The caregiver should place one foot on the Pivot
Disc to safely monitor and control the transfer. After using the Pivot
Disc, it should be immediately removed from the floor and cleaned if
being used by another patient.
Transfers between a chair and a
wheelchair
The SST
Pivot Disc is "locked" in place when the caregiver places their heel
comfortably on the floor and the rest of their foot is on the plate between the
feet of the individual to be transferred (fig 2). In order to make the transfer as easy as
possible, the individual being transferred should wear an SST Transfer Belt
(not included). The handles on a
Transfer Belt would provide a solid grip for the caregiver.
Transfers between a wheelchair and a
toilet
Proper use
of the SST Pivot Disc in this situation is identical to a transfer between a
chair and wheelchair. However, it is
safer and easier with two caregivers, each wearing a SST Transfer Belt. As shown in figure 1, the caregiver(s) can use
their free hand to help undress the individual before placing him/her on the
toilet.
Transfers between a Bed and
Wheelchair
Before
moving an individual from a bed to a wheelchair, make sure that the wheelchair
is positioned as close to the bed as possible, with the wheels locked. For better control and safety, always have
the individual wear a SST Transfer Belt (not included) as in (fig. 2).
